Slick water undulated erratic.
Wind whipped waves waffled
indecisive and unpredictable.
The miracle was more than unexpected
buoyancy; it was balance,
ankles that didn’t roll,
feet that didn’t slip.
Peter’s attempt was ambitious but less
successful for more reasons than doubt.
